The acronym CPAN stands for CLINICAL PHARMACISTS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA. The Association is  fully Incorporated in Nigeria as a corporate entity with the corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria.

The logo of the Association is represented by the BOWL OF HYGEA ~ which has a snake and stick (representative symbol of pharmacy profession  worldwide).

The logo of CPAN  also features the characters  CRxN in leaf green color.

C ~ stands for the word CLINICAL.

Rx ~ stands for PHARMACISTS.

N ~ stands for NIGERIA.

CPAN is fully represented , currently  in twenty nine(29) states of Nigeria. Only financially registered members of the Association are entitled to use the suffix title MCPAN against their names.

The Association has been formed in response to the need  to drive clinical pharmacy practice forward in Nigeria. It aims to support and encourage excellence, partnership and leadership  within clinical pharmacy practice in Nigeria. It also seeks to further  the profession of pharmacy, interests  of clinical pharmacists in particular and public  interest in general.

The Association provides  opportunities for NETWORKING, COLLABORATION, sharing BEST practices and INSPIRING innovation.  CPAN will continue to be both supportive and stimulating, offering our members the opportunity to EXPLORE, LEARN, INNOVATE and FLOURISH.

The Association has commenced  utilizing  her  experienced  pharmacy PRACTITIONERS who work at the LEADING EDGE of their practices  and are committed to sharing  to the Pharmacy profession, in DEVELOPING and DELIVERING  some events on behalf of the Association.

This also includes the weekly Clinical case presentations and lectures that have been taking place online @ all the six CPAN national WhatsApp Platforms , and has been enriching  the knowledge of members enviably. As a member of the Association on our  platform,  you can post a message,  ask  advice,  respond  to a query, upload  a document to share, promote  good practice or share  important information.

CPAN is a community of thousands  of supportive practitioners  available to you. You can take advantage  of the opportunity to detail your product to practitioners (if you are a drug or medical device manufacturer ) by following laid down regulations by the Association.

You can also have access to our pool of well qualified  experts,  who are clinical practitioners in Pharmacy that are  trained home or abroad,  and are on our database, and can can be engaged for various Clinical pharmacy (direct patient care pharmacy) Services in the community, emergency departments, hospitals, clinics, medical and Pharmacy school  faculties  and other health care settings.

CPAN expects to be involved in pioneering  national initiatives for CLINICAL PHARMACY including curriculum development and professional recognition  of advanced practice. Hopefully , our members will be involved in regularly contributing  to national and international consultations, guidelines development and health  policy and agenda  setting.

Our members are expected to be sought as EXPERTS by government, professional bodies and the MEDIA to advise on aspects  of PHARMACEUTICAL CARE.

You can join us as a FULL MEMBER if you have any of the following clinical pharmacy qualifications : PharmD(Doctor of Pharmacy),  MSc /MPharm. Clin:(Masters  in clinical pharmacy), WAPCP or foreign  fellowship in clinical pharmacy,  or PhD(Doctor of philosophy) in clinical pharmacy. You can also join us as an ASSOCIATE MEMBER if you don’t have any of the listed clinical pharmacy qualifications but you are passionate about clinical pharmacy and ready to upgrade.

CPAN may  transform to a college of clinical pharmacy in the event that a great majority of pharmacists in Nigeria request to join the Association , consequent upon  acquiring  PharmD which is one of  the  requirements that makes one  a clinical pharmacist. For this reason CPAN does not have state branches but state coordinating committees.

CPAN also has some other arms which include  her diaspora chapter, education committee, publicity Committee, think tank and Standards Committee, as well as the CPAN board of trustees being headed by a distinguished professor of clinical Pharmacy in Nigeria.
